Synopsis:
“When you’re wanted…
Redix Dean is so hot he breaks hearts upon sight.
He promised he’d love me for infinity.
After one tragic night, he lied.
He moved to L.A., found celebrity success and left me with no answers.
Now he’s back and thinks he can seduce me and make me his again?
He was the love of my life.
No matter how famous he is, he’s still the boy who saved me.
Everyone sees his beauty. I see his pain.
Everyone is after him. I only want to save him.
Because he’s hiding something and I’m the only one who knows it.
I’ll keep his secret while he plays dark games with my heart and body … until the very end.”
This book had me hooked from the first page.
Cade’s hot, famous ex, Redix, comes back to town and she’s not going to take his shit. She is a cop, and deeply cares about her job. Redix has a ton of issues of his own. As the two once-best friends reunite sparks fly and emotions run hot.
I loved the way the story unfolded. Finley did an awesome job of alluding to something traumatic happening to the main characters when they were 18. Each chapter revealed a little more of the event and how it shaped the characters over 10 years. What I suspected didn’t pan out the way I thought.
The book was well structured with Cade as the main narrator and Redix penning journal entries to fill in the gaps. It added to the suspense factor.
The love scenes were a plenty and were scorching. Like 🤯🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.
The second chance romance added a layer of vulnerability that I so appreciated. It allowed the reader to dive into each character’s hurt, lust, yearning and trauma.
I love a character driven book and this is it. I felt for these characters. I cried in the third act break up. It is a hot angsty mess and I’ve been in my feelings all day because of it.
I absolutely recommend. Make sure you check the trigger warnings as there are off page references to sexual assault.
